Week 11. Lecture – New Media Landscape
During the New Media Landscape lecture, the guest speaker shared about his experience and forte towards web designing and social media tools such as twitter.
The guest speaker is a free lancer and he talk about how different is it to work as a free lancer compared to working as an employee. As a free lancer, the person might not be able to complete projects for clients on time because of personal life .etc. He suggested that for people who are just starting and should start as free lancer first.
He designed blog templates for a number of sites including Singapore most popular blogger, xiaxue who have more than 20,000+ hits to her blog daily and also Nuffnang, which is Asia Pacific’s first blog advertising community. He mentioned about how easy is it for almost anyone to create a website compared to last time.
When i heard about how much he can earn from designing blog skins and web hosting, i was quite stunned because the price is very steep and can cost few thousands.
The one thing he said that make me gain much respect for him is he do all things not purely for money and more towards what he love to do.
Having a guest speaker to speak to us during lecture is a good way for us to gain more knowledge and this prepares us when we are in the industry next time.
